Barbie Dreamhouse but make it Jungalow

As a toddler, I used to construct worlds for my Barbies. I’d spend limitless hours with my sister, Religion, crafting intricate realms, stitching tiny clothes from vibrant materials, and fashioning furnishings from corks, toothpicks, and bottle caps! Early experiences like these launched me to the magic of design and impressed me to grow to be a designer and artist. So you’ll be able to think about how excited I used to be when @BarbieStyle reached out about what seemed like a dream collab: Jungalow designing a room in Barbie’s dreamhouse !!!

We had our first name with the Mattel staff (the kindest, most inventive bunch!) on a Friday and the next Monday we have been at their places of work perusing their classic Barbie furnishings archives, searching for our dreamhouse! I even bought to carry Ida! It was unbelievable. The artistry and a focus to element that goes into constructing (or in some instances sourcing) all issues Barbie is absolutely inspiring.

We bought to select completely different doll heads, physique sorts, and CLOTHES – oh the garments!

So very cool to see all of the Barbie doll heads! Their hair and make up is at all times on level!

How enjoyable is that this wardrobe choice?! We couldn’t cease oohing and awwing after we have been making our selects. Too enjoyable!

After that, we headed again to the Jungalow studio and I began concepting. I gathered inspiration photos and rendered a room that I may see Barbie and her mates having a celebration in. The superb Mattel staff introduced my idea to life (the picture on the very prime of this weblog put up is NOT photoshopped! It was truly constructed to Barbie scale–the material and textiles have been truly made with our prints, and so they even created teeny tiny variations of my books! ahhh!) and now I simply need to chill with Barbie there all day lengthy!

My hope was to create an area the place Barbie may embrace her individuality and be surrounded by a kaleidoscope of textures, hues, and vegetation. We recovered the classic furnishings, and upcycled and reinvented them, simply as Religion and I did as children. However, this dreamhouse isn’t only a play house; it’s an invite for Barbie, her mates, and for all of us to nurture our personal creativity, have fun our personal uniqueness, and revel within the magic and the enjoyable of unbridled self-expression.
