Within the sketch, Jon Hamm performed a RFK Jr.-coded model of Walton Goggins’ character Rick, and made reference to taking fluoride out of ingesting water. Sarah Sherman performed Aimee’s character, and replied with a questionable British accent by comically giant enamel and with a dazed and bewildered facial features. She requested: “Fluoride? What’s that?”
Posting on Instagram the day after the skit aired, Aimee wrote: “I did discover the SNL factor imply and unfunny xo.”
Aimee later revealed that Sarah had despatched her flowers as an apology, and the comic has now spoken publicly for the primary time about hurting Aimee’s emotions with the sketch.
In an interview with Vainness Truthful, Sarah stated that she’d been “excited” to play Aimee’s character on SNL, and felt “horrible” that her portrayal had landed so poorly.
Reflecting on the Aimee incident extra instantly, Sarah added: “I used to be excited to play her as a result of she’s so iconic, her character is so iconic, and I fucking clearly by no means meant to harm anybody’s emotions.”
“By no means in one million years did I get into comedy to make anybody upset,” she concluded. “I really feel horrible that anybody would really feel unhealthy.”
