Warner Bros. Photos has launched a model new trailer for the upcoming musical movie adaptation of The Colour Purple. This film tells the story of the “extraordinary sisterhood of three ladies who share one unbreakable bond.”
The movie relies on a 1982 novel by Alice Walker and the musical stage play. The story facilities on Celie, a Black Southern lady within the early 1900s century who’s abused by her father and husband. It entails life-long struggles of an African American lady residing within the South throughout this period.
Steven Spielberg directed the unique movie adaptation in 1985, which starred Oprah Winfrey. Each Spielberg and Winfrey are govt producers on this new undertaking, which was helmed by Blitz Bazawule (Black Is King, The Burial of Kojo).
The Colour Purple stars Taraji P. Henson (What Males Need, Hidden Figures), Danielle Brooks (Peacemaker, Orange Is the New Black), Colman Domingo (Ma Rainey’s Black Backside, Concern the Strolling Useless), Corey Hawkins (Within the Heights, BlacKkKlansman), H.E.R. (Judas and the Black Messiah, Magnificence and the Beast: A thirtieth Celebration), Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, Grown-ish), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, If Beale Avenue May Discuss), and Fantasia Barrino in her main movement image debut.
The screenplay is by Marcus Gardley (Maid, The Chi) and the music and lyrics have been written by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.
The film will likely be launched in theaters on December twenty fifth.
